A chilly willy day..... well, for some!

Yesterday was our day off AND a beautifully sunny day - who could want more?
One of the team had decided they fancied lunch in Bourg St Maurice, so we thought it would be fun to set off on a little adventure heading towards Arc 1600 and the funicular railway which would take us down to Bourg. We all took walking shoes in backpacks as once off the funicular we knew it would be a bit of a trek to find food!!
Skiing over to Arc 1600 was fab. Although it was very warm and had been warm for the last few days, the pistes were still in very good condition. I got taken on two runs I hadn't skied for many years, an unpisted red run called Malgovert and a fabulous sweeping blue piste called 'Mont Blanc' (with views of guess where?) which take you down to 1600 - they were awesome.

On the way over someone noticed the water jump at the Altiport was open. At the time it was all very quiet there, so we made a mental note to stop on our way back and check it out again (little did we know what a 'treat' we were in for later!).
We got to Bourg about 2pm ish and feasted on pizzas, salads and beer (marvellous!) before heading back to the hills.......
The Altiport was in fact, the first stop on the way home and how the scene had changed from this morning.... crowds had formed around the water jump now and there were boarders, skiers, even ski instructors queueing up at the top to of the run to give it a blast - here's a few pics of the antics....

By the time we met up with the Finlays Courchevel crew, Hamish had already completed two runs and of course needed to show us what he could do !! Confident that having done it before, he could do it again, he whizzed down the slope and gracefully slid across the water with not so much as a wet boot - the next attempt however, didn't turn out quite as good as the first as the pictures below show...... oops!

Hamish: going, going, going, going, going, GONE !

We were just about to leave and head for home, when the crowd suddenly errupted with raucous applause, clapping and cheering - a guy was careering down the slope wearing JUST a pair of goggles (and not over his eyes, I might add !!), he was closely followed by two of his mates wearing, errrrr, nothing but a smile - one fell in, the other one just leant back and skied across as cool as anything .....

Well, it certainly topped off our great day, didn't it girls? !!!
