Speed Flying....... your feet won't touch the ground!

One of the most important speed flying competitions: 'The Speed Flying Pro' competition, took place this week in Les Arcs.
For those of you who don't know - Speed Flying is a new winter sport that has taken the slopes by storm! It was created in France by paraglider pilots and skydivers looking for a new sensation! and involves a combination of paragliding and skiing.
It's an extreme sport in the same league as Skydiving and BASE jumping, so can be very dangerous, with a high risk of injury or even death.
Wings are normally are flown between 35 & 70 km/h but unlike paragliding there's no reserve/safety parachute if anything goes wrong - oops!
Antoine Montant from France won the top title of Best Speed Flyer of the Year 2009 by performing an incredible display of daring piloting, strong skiing and uncompromising risk taking.
I found it fascinating and really exhilarating just watching, I can't imagine the adrenaline rush you'd get from participating ..... !!!
